BEHIND THE LENS

Hi, I'm McKenzie

(or Kenzie or Kenz, whatever you're comfortable with!)

Photography has been part of my life for as long as I can remember. It runs in my family, my great-grandfather and my father were both photographers. While my path has been my own, carrying on that legacy feels incredibly meaningful. It's less about following in their footsteps and more about continuing a tradition of preserving stories.

Growing up, I spent a lot of time outside with a camera in my hands. Nature became a place where I could slow down, breathe, and notice the things most people walked past. Little did I know, I was learning to observe, to be present, and to express myself in a way that words never quite allowed.

That way of seeing has stayed with me for more than 17 years.

Today, I photograph artists, makers, brands and families with the same curiosity that first drew me to photography. My role isn't just documenting what's in front of me, it's understanding the connection and the story behind it.

I think of myself as a messenger. Someone who notices the beauty, emotion, and details that already exist, then reflects them back through photographs. The little girl who wandered outside with a camera was learning to notice the world. Today, that same perspective allows me to tell the stories of the people who shape it.

My hope is that you leave feeling like you never had to perform or become someone else. Just come as you are. The people you love, the work you've poured yourself into, and the moments that matter most already have everything they need. I'm simply there to help you hold onto them.
